Biografija
OREST SHOURGOT je violinist, pedagog, diplomirani dirigent i komorni glazbenik te profesor na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu. Rođen je u obitelji sveučilišnog profesora dr. sc. Bogdana Shourgota i violinistice Volodymyre Shourgot. Godine 1982. osvojio je prvu nagradu na natjecanju violinista u Kijevu na kojem je u finalu svirao Prvi koncert u fis-molu H. Wieniawskog. Iduće godine, 1983., osvaja i prvu nagradu na natjecanju J. Kocian u Češkoj. Godine 1989. završio je Centralnu muzičku školu u Moskvi. Te godine dobio je prvu nagradu na violinističkom natjecanju u Odesi. Od 1993. do 1994. studira na Konzervatoriju Čajkovski u Moskvi te postaje koncertni majstor Ansambla suvremene muzike (ASM) pri Savezu skladatelja Rusije. Godine 1993. nastavlja uspješni niz - osvaja prvu nagradu na Prvom međunarodnom natjecanju violinista M. Lysenka u Harkovu. Od 1994. do 1996. završava i poslijediplomski studij na konzervatoriju Čajkovski u Moskvi gdje od 1995. počinje raditi i kao asistent. Na Prvom međunarodnom violinističkom natjecanju Abram Jampolski u Dubni 1996. g., osvojio je drugu nagradu.
Kao student svirao je u ansamblu Moskovski solisti pod vodstvom maestra Jurija Bashmeta. Stipendist je Fonda Novih Imena pod pokroviteljstvom Anatolija Karpova i Raise Gorbačov od 1992. godine.
U Hrvatsku dolazi 1997. te stječe državljanstvo 2001. Od 1998. predaje na Umjetničkoj akademiji u Splitu, a od 1999. docent je na istoj akademiji. Od 2001. postaje koncertni majstor Zagrebačke filharmonije. Godine 2005. postaje docent na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu, a 2010. umjetnički voditelj Zagrebačkog komornog orkestra. Od 2011. godine izvanredni je profesor na Muzičkoj akademiji u Zagrebu.
Kao solist i ansamblist nastupao je s vodećim svjetskim glazbenicima i dirigentima kao što su: Sir Neville Marriner, Shlomo Mintz, Yuri Bashmet, Milan Horvat, Vladimir Kranjčević, Natalia Gutman, Alun Francis, Pavle Dešpalj, Hans Graf, i brojni drugi... Kao solist nastupa od 1981. g. Nastupao je u gotovo svim zemljama Europe, diljem Azije te u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama.
Godine 2011. Hrvatska akademija znanosti i umjetnosti dodijelila mu je ekskluzivno pravo koristiti violinu King iz 1735. godine čuvenog talijanskog majstora Bartolomea Giuseppea Guarnerija del Gesùa.
Godine 2015.g. U Cremoni svirao je na violini A. Stradivari Joachim-MA iz 1715.g.
Član je žirija međunarodnih violinističkih natjecanja u Sionu (Švicarska) 2011., Novosibirsku 2013., Ohridu 2014., Beogradu 2015. i 2016. te u Lavovu 2017.
Godine 2016. nastupao je sa Zagrebačkom filharmonijom u Carnegie Hallu New York.
Godine 2017. izveo je Bachov Dvostruki koncert sa Shlomom Mintzom u Zagrebu, a iste godine dvaput je nastupao s Robyjem Lakatosem.
Godine 2018. prvi je u povijesti Hrvatske pripremio integralnu izvedbu Ciklusa od tri sonate i tri partite za violinu solo Johanna Sebastiana Bacha, najprije u Crkvi sv. Franje Asiškog u Lipiku, a zatim i u Katedrali sv. Duje u Splitu te u Crkvi sv. Marka u Zagrebu, u sklopu Festivala sv. Marka čiji je laureat.
2019 godine prvi violinist koji je izveo Šeherezadu od Rimskog Korsakova u Koncertnoj dvorani Royal Opera Housu u Muscatu u Omanu, a isto tako u Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural centru u El Kuweitu. Odmah nakon turneje po arapskim zemljama izveo je Ciklus od Šest Sonata Eugena Ysayea u Velikoj dvorani glazbenoga zavoda i tako je jedini violinist u Hrvatskoj koji je izveo dva najznačajnija ciklusa za violinu solo tijekom jedne godine.
Ove godine navršio 50 godina od kojih aktivno nastupa 40 godina.

OREST SHOURGOT – violinist, pedagogue, conductor, chamber musician, and professor at the Academy of Music in Zagreb. Born to university professor Dr. Sc. Bogdan Shourgot and violinist Volodymyra Shourgot. In 1982 he won first prize at the Violin Competition in Kiev, in the finals playing Concerto No. 1, F-sharp minor by H. Wieniawski. The following year he won the J. Kocin Competition in the Czech Republic. In 1989 he graduated from the Central Music School in Moscow, and that same year he received first prize at the Violin Competition in Odessa. From 1993 to 1994 he studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he became concertmaster of the Contemporary Music Ensemble (ASM) with the Composer's Association of Russia. He continued with his successes – winning first prize at the First M. Lysenka International Violin Competition in Kharkov. In the period 1994 – 1996 he finished his postgraduate study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he started his work as an assistant from 1995. In 1996 he won second prize at the First Abram Yampolsky International Violin Competition in Dubna.
As a student he played in the Moscow Soloists Ensemble under the leadership of Yuri Bashmet. Since 1992 he has held a scholarship from the New Names Foundation, under the patronage of Anatolij Karpov and Raisa Gorbachev. He moved to Croatia in 1997, where he acquired citizenship in 2001. Since 1998 he has been teaching at the Arts Academy in Split, where he has been serving as an assistant professor (docent ) from 1999. In 2001 he became concertmaster of the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, and since 2005 he has been assistant professor at the Zagreb Academy of Music. Since 2010 he has been artistic leader of the Zagreb Chamber Orchestra. Since 2011 he has served as associate professor at the Zagreb Academy of Music, and in that same year he founded the Classicus Ensemble of Soloists, which he still leads.
As a soloist and as an ensemble member he has performed with leading world musicians and conductors, among whom are: Sir Neville Marriner, Shlomo Mintz, Yuri Bashmet, Natalia Gutman, Alun Francis, Pavle Dešpalj, Milan Horvat... He started performing as a soloist in 1981.
During his career he has played on rare violins of old Italian masters: Antonio and Hieronymus Amati, Lorenzo Storioni, Giuseppe Guadagnini, Alessandro Gagliano.
Since 2011 he regularly performs on The King violin, made in 1735 by famous Italian master Bartolomeo Giuseppeo Guarneri del Gesù, and whose ownership is held by the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU). Since 2007 he has also been playing a violin made by Italian master Antonio Vinacci in 1761. In 2015 he performed on the Joachim-Ma Stradivarius violin. He is a member of juries of international violin competitions in Sion (Switzerland, 2011), Novosibirsk (2013), Ohrid (2014), and Belgrade (2015, 2016).
In 2016 he performed with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York.
